Its being dubbed “THE World’s Biggest Baby Shower” and a “do-not-miss event.”
Ambitious organizations and businesses are collaborating to hold this monumental event at the Mall of America this coming Saturday, Oct. 10. And Lisa and I will be there – outfitted in matching aprons (publisher’s idea) to offer a Siblings Workshop to the parents-to-be. We won’t be alone – other Meadowbrook authors, including the incredibly talented Baby Name Guru – Bruce Lansky and the go-to-source for baby shower planning – Becky Long- will be hosting workshops throughout the day.
It just leaves us with one gnawing question: Who is the lucky couple who could potentially outfit 2 – 3 homes with all the stuff they could receive at “THE World’s Biggest Baby Shower” ?
KARE 11, a NBC affiliate in Minnesota, along with MomsLikeMe.com have been following an expectant couple throughout their pregnancy. Mom-to-be & blogger, Lynsee, is expecting her first child in November and has even granted these media oulets an invitation to be in her birthing suite to witness the delivery. A brave girl!
Lynsee’s husband, Anders, will kick off the baby shower festivities by competing in a Daddy Obstacle Course.
Now back to the important question: All “gifts” will be donated to the Families Moving Forward organization. In a sort-of-registry, if you will, the organization has offered a wish list of needed items. Families Moving Forward is a faith based organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota that provides temporary emergency shelter, permanent affordable housing and supportive services to low income families with children.
I heard somewhere that the largest baby shower recorded was 450 attendees. I’ll let you know if this event attracts more than 451!
